iOS 27 introduces a reworked version of Siri, the voice assistant, enhanced with artificial intelligence capabilities. This updated assistant will utilize the data stored on users' devices—such as photos, messages, and emails—to provide more personalized responses. For example, it can identify a nearby restaurant recommended in a message and retrieve relevant links.
Apple emphasized the privacy of this functionality, stating that such data processing occurs largely on the device itself, ensuring that Apple does not access the search data.
In addition to the new Siri, iOS 27 includes performance improvements to enhance device speed and efficiency, along with child safety features designed to help manage what younger users can access on their devices.
The update is compatible with all devices that were able to install the previous version, iOS 26, which dates back to the iPhone 11 from 2019. Users with older iPhones may benefit significantly from this update due to its focus on performance enhancements. Once released, iOS 27 can be downloaded through the Settings app, where users will also receive prompts to install it.
