Apple Skips iOS 27.1 Update for Most Devices, Focusing on 27.2

The company chose to skip the iOS 27.1 update for most devices. Reports suggest that this version was specifically developed for the upcoming iPhone Duo, which is set to be released in October. Other devices will receive the iOS 27.2 update directly.

The testing schedule has accelerated, with the first developer builds appearing in mid-September, followed by a second batch one week later. Public beta program participants can expect their updates soon.

The new updates are primarily geared toward system optimization, but several key features have also been added. The Health app on iPhone now includes a redesigned interface and new AI-driven analytics tools. Siri will greatly expand its language support starting in October, adding French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.

FaceTime has introduced a Dual Capture feature, allowing users to stream video from both the front and main cameras simultaneously. Additionally, the Podcasts app's Up Next section now includes more blocks for new episodes and unfinished shows.

The Apple TV service is set to introduce multiple user profiles for mobile devices and web access, along with a Multiview mode that enables users to watch four different sports broadcasts simultaneously on their iPhones.

In macOS 27.2, a new feature will automatically replace compromised passwords.

However, installing beta builds comes with risks, including unstable device performance, app errors, and increased battery consumption. Experts advise against installing beta versions on primary work devices. Users should back up their data using iCloud or Time Machine before installation and ensure their Mac has at least 25–30 GB of free disk space.

To download the iOS beta version, users must visit the Apple Beta Software Program website to register. After registration, the Beta Updates option will become available in the smartphone settings under Software Update. On Mac computers, the process can be managed through System Settings in the General tab by opening Software Update and confirming participation in the beta testing program.
