Founded in 2019 and based in Los Altos, California, Glass Imaging secured approximately $30 million in funding before its acquisition. The company was established by Ziv Attar and Tom Bishop, both former Apple engineers who contributed to the development of Portrait mode for iPhone cameras.
Glass Imaging focuses on developing neural network technologies designed to address the limitations of smartphone cameras, particularly the size constraints of their sensors and optics. Unlike typical AI applications that process images post-capture, Glass Imaging's technology integrates directly with the camera system, training neural networks on the specific characteristics of various smartphone camera modules to enhance image quality during capture.
