iOS 27 Launch Date and Device Compatibility Announced

Participants in the Apple Developer Program and Apple Beta Software Program have had early access to iOS 27, which includes improvements to the AI features and Safari, among other enhancements.

Key updates in iOS 27 include a significant upgrade to Siri, branded as Apple Intelligence, which aims to serve as a more capable AI assistant. Users can expect new apps and features designed to improve daily interactions. The update will include AI editing tools for photos, a visual search capability for the camera using Siri, and a feature called “Call Context” that provides relevant information during phone calls, such as flight confirmation codes.

Additionally, users will benefit from a new slider that adjusts the visual elements for enhanced readability, faster app launches, and expedited AirDrop transfers. iOS 27 will also place a strong emphasis on security, implementing child safety features to manage app access and web browsing.

Devices eligible for the iOS 27 update include:

- iPhone 11 models and newer

- iPhone SE (2nd generation and later)

- Various iPad Pro models (M4 and later, and others listed)

- iPad Air (M2 and later)

- iPad (A16 and later)

- iPad mini (A17 Pro and later)

- Apple Watch SE 3, Watch Series 10, 11, and Watch Ultra 2, 3.

Older devices that received iOS 26, such as the 3rd generation iPad Pro and several older Apple Watches, will not be eligible for the iOS 27 update. Notably, Apple Intelligence will only be available on iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone 16 and 17 models.

To check device compatibility, users can go to Settings > General > About on their iPhones. Ensuring sufficient storage space is also crucial for the update, as it typically requires several gigabytes.

Apple confirmed that iOS 27 will officially roll out on September 14.
