Intel has officially launched its Intel Core Ultra 200HX Plus series mobile processors, targeting gamers and professionals with enhanced performance options. Josh Newman, General Manager and Vice President of Product Marketing for Intel's Client Computing Group, stated that the new series enhances mobile computing performance, making it suitable for demanding users. The Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus offers up to an 8% improvement in gaming performance and a 7% boost in single-thread performance compared to its predecessor, the Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX. Users upgrading from older models like the Intel Core i9-12900HX can expect as much as a 62% enhancement in gaming performance and 30% in single-thread performance.
Significant features include an increase of up to 900 MHz in die-to-die frequency compared to the Intel Core Ultra 7 285HX and 7 265HX, optimizing CPU/memory controller speeds and reducing system latency. Additionally, these processors support the Intel Binary Optimization Tool, which aims to improve performance by optimizing processor instructions per cycle (IPC) even with workloads designed for other architectures.
Connectivity advancements include support for discrete Intel Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and Intel Thunderbolt 5, enabling users to achieve up to 80 Gbps bidirectional bandwidth for tasks such as 8K media streaming and rapid file transfers. Systems powered by the Intel Core Ultra 200HX Plus will be available from OEM partners starting today, March 17, 2026. Specific partner systems that will launch today and in the upcoming year include models from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MAINGEAR, MSI, Origin, and Razer.
