The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 features a 2+6 core configuration, consisting of two Prime cores achieving a clock frequency of 5.0 GHz, marking a historic peak for mobile processors. It also includes six high-performance cores with frequencies up to 4.0 GHz and is equipped with 16 MB of unified Oryon FlexCache. These chipsets are designed to enable local deployment of autonomous agent-based artificial intelligence on mobile devices without relying on continuous cloud connectivity.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is tailored for high-end smartphones, offering a 13% increase in CPU performance and a 37% reduction in power consumption compared to its predecessor. The Adreno graphics subsystem provides a 44% performance improvement alongside a 40% enhancement in power efficiency, thanks to the Adreno Neural Fusion pipeline featuring specialized Matrix Cores and 18 MB of high-speed HPM graphics memory, which facilitates hardware-based neural network frame generation. Additionally, the upgraded Hexagon neural processor introduces a hardware Element Accelerator and a 50% larger shared memory, boosting AI performance by 35% and supporting Mixture of Experts (MoE) models with over 30 billion parameters.

For the standard model, enhancements include a 10% increase in CPU performance, a 35% boost in GPU performance, and a 14% increase in NPU performance, with support for context windows of up to 32,000 tokens.

The new processors also enhance multimedia and connectivity options, supporting up to 24GB of LPDDR5X and LPDDR6 RAM at 5300 MHz, high-speed UFS 5.0 storage, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon X105 5G modem compliant with 3GPP Release 19, offering download speeds up to 14.8 Gbps. The Spectra image processing engine includes a triple 20-bit AI-ISP, enabling 8K video recording at 60 fps and 4K slow-motion at 240 fps. The Extreme model supports the APV cinematic codec and hardware decoding of H.266 (VVC), while the base model is limited to 8K recording at 30 fps and 4K at 120 fps.

Leading global smartphone manufacturers, including Xiaomi, Motorola, OnePlus, iQOO, HONOR, OPPO, REDMI, RedMagic, and vivo, are expected to release commercial devices based on these new chipsets.
