Preorders for the NexPhone start at $599, retaining a price protection for those who previously reserved the device at either $549 or $599. The smartphone will debut running Android 17 and will allow users to switch to a Debian Linux installation without rebooting. A Windows 11 dual-boot option will also be available.
The NexPhone aims to deliver a full desktop-class experience in a smartphone form factor, featuring a custom Android desktop mode complete with a tabbed file manager and support for desktop files and folders. However, it is noted that the Windows 11 and Linux installations might not be fully featured at launch, as driver and platform support for Windows 11 on the Qualcomm System on Chip (SoC) is still under development. Linux support is also mentioned as a work in progress. Details regarding the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) after the launch have not yet been disclosed.
