The Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 Super Ultra is touted as Qualcomm's "most powerful mobile platform" and features what the company claims is the "world's fastest mobile CPU." Specifically, the new Qualcomm Oryon CPU has a maximum frequency of 5GHz, offering a performance boost of 13%, energy efficiency improvement of 37%, and a 15% increase in response speed compared to its predecessor.

A notable innovation in the Oryon CPU is the FlexCache architecture, which allows for dynamic allocation of cache resources. This enables a super core to access nearly the entire cache pool on demand during high-load tasks, which aids in maintaining low latency and quick response times during complex operations.

The Adreno GPU also received significant enhancements, boasting a 44% increase in performance and a 40% boost in energy efficiency. The new GPU includes dedicated Matrix Cores for AI, allowing neural network computations to happen directly within the graphics rendering pipeline. This development supports Qualcomm's feature called Adreno Neural Fusion, which aims to transform mobile GPUs into AI graphics processors. This technology enhances gaming performance, reduces power consumption, and extends battery life while maintaining high frame rates.

Additionally, Qualcomm's Hexagon NPU now includes an Element Accelerator designed for generative AI tasks. This component works in conjunction with existing computing units to accelerate operations in large models. The new Hexagon NPU also increases the capacity of Large Shared Memory by 50%, enabling quicker processing for more complex tasks.

Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm, emphasized this launch signifies a new era of mobile technology, highlighting that these capabilities are not just future promises but present innovations.

Smartphone manufacturers like Xiaomi, vivo, and OPPO are expected to adopt these new Snapdragon platforms in their upcoming flagship devices. At the launch event, Xiaomi showcased its new 18 Pro model.

In the coming days, Qualcomm plans to release additional products focusing on Personal AI, including offerings for wearables and PCs.
